Who are the little military guys I draw so much?

You may have noticed that I draw a lot of soldiers; That isn't without reason. I have a bit of an interest in military related subjects and enjoy drawing things related to them. But with the fact that it's, y'know, related to war and politics, most of the info relating to it can be pretty hard to swallow at times.

For whatever reason, I've found that creating characters based off of whichever conflict I'm interested with at the time eases that pain. Something about having characters that I'm attached to in those trenches directly just seems to help somehow. You'd think that would make it worse, having things you're emotionally attached to go through something so tragic, but for me it's weirdly comforting; I'm not really sure why.

Having them also gives the opportunity to explore what exactly it would have been like to exist in those times and circumstances from an on-the-ground perspective. Combined with the fact that I just overall find military uniforms fun to draw, I've racked up quite a few of these characters over the years.

Since they're a bit different from my usual OCs, being from the real world based on things that have already happened, I wanted to make an index just for them. Hence why you're here instead of in the other one.

With the given subject, there will of course be some upsetting topics covered. A list will be created and added here as I create the pages for each of the characters.

Why do I find military-related subjects interesting?

I've always had a bit of an interest in them; I have some family that has served before. But what really got me intrigued was, surprisingly, Splatoon. I had a huge fixation on the Old Squidbeak Splatoon back in the day and that somehow boiled over into real-life military-related subjects.

At first it was more for the structuring and how the military functioned, but it eventually evolved into more of an interest in those little stories you hear sometimes of soldiers from opposite sides, just, being nice to eachother.

There's something so heatwarming and bittersweet hearing about people whos literal jobs it is to kill eachother put aside those differences, even just for a night, and take care of eachother. Those types of stories make me go mushy, and I've included some of those themes in some of the characters I've made.
