Welcome to the diary!

WELCOME TO THE DIARY!!!!

Hello! This is the diary! It's a little different from the blog. Whereas the blog is for really long posts and essay types, this diary is shorter and more personal. Everyday thoughts and feelings will go here.

Typos will be common and I'm not the best at putting things into words, so I apologize if this page is a bit incoherent at times (-_-u)

I hope you enjoy plushie Yami Marik staring into your soul

July 24th, 2025 [Thursday]

Now that I've re-made the blog and made a new template for the posts, I've been brainstorming ideas of what to make posts about. I've got a lot of opinions on a lot of different internet topics that I'd like to share eventually, but there's one thing keeping me from doing that. What if I'm like, wrong about something.

This may sound a bit silly but I'm pretrified of making some sort of mistake like that. Even if I do all of the research I can on a topic, there's no guarantee that I won't have some sort of blind spot on it. Back in the day on my Advance Wars Tumblr blog I went searching to see if full character art of the Super Famicom Wars cast existed. I looked everywhere and came to the conclusion that none did, only to learn that one of them most definitely did, just in the context of the original Famicom Wars game. He was on the back of the box. I just never saw it. You don't know what you don't know and there's no way to tell if you have a blind spot because that's the definition of a blind spot. This example is a bit low stakes, but if this happened when talking about something more serious, then there would be issues.

You may be thinking "Why does this matter? Try your best but let yourself make mistakes. Just make sure to learn from them, apologize and move on" or something along those lines. For context: I was pretty much raised on art/commentary drama YouTube. People don't tend to just forgive poeple for being wrong on there, especially back in the day. If you messed up, chances are you'd have some rando react to your arguments and at best offer some valuble critisism buried under 5 layers irony and an agressive tone, or at worst just throw potshots and make fun of you for "Not knowing better" and probably also your voice or typos or identity or something, and then posts it to their subscriber-base of ~60.79k people. While I know that getting commentated on by some YouTuber probably isn't in my future, I see similar types of people all the time in comment sections and in writing. People who think that any wrong take must have been the result of either malice or stupidity, and immediatly get aggressive and mean because they think it's deserved. It just sucks.

I have been pondering some other post ideas that aren't opinionated essays though. I've been thinking about making a setp-by-setp tutorial on how I make my clay figures + what I use and budget alternatives for my supplies. I'm sure that people would appreciate being able to easily make their own little guys to keep around their abode. Also tier lists I think would be fun. Maybe go into why I love mixed media? A Windows 10 and 11 MS Paint tutorial? overall fun stuff.

Other things that have happened? I found some cool money in the till at work today. A Canadian penny, a 1955 wheat penny, a 2009 Lincoln bicentennial penny and a 2001 $10 bill. I really need to make a page for my coin/money collection. One time I found a US penny from 1906 in my till and it's the most prized coin I have. I fnished the old man figure (you can find him here.) I'm almost finished with my currect sketchbook after around 2 months of filling it. I've been playing a lot of Stardew Valley. I'm trying to learn ProTools. Ect ect.

July 9th, 2025 [Wednesday]

Work was boooooooring today. We were way overstaffed and I ended up being left as the dead weight. I willingly replaced the toilet paper in the bathroom just because there was so little to do. At least I found a Canadian quarter in my till; I should make a page for my coin collection.

With all of that being said...

Unfinished clay sculpture

Old man figure be upon ye soon.

I used 3 different types of clay for this. Crayola air-dry, Crayola model magic and DAS air-dry. I usually use the Crayola stuff but DAS was newer to me. I liked how it felt but it got all over my hands and turned to a fine powder that I hated the feeling of. I have a few other brands of air-dry clay that I need to use up sometime soon.

July 8th, 2025 [Tuesday]

Bah. I've been struggling to like my new Home Page since I uploaded it to Neocities and I can't quite figure out why. I ended up linking my site on the Neocities Reddit to see if a fresh set of eyes could help see if anything was off and edited a few things from there, but I still just don't really know what to do with it.

I tried to quickly come up with a new layout that I liked on paper and starting typing it up, but when I finally saw it on screen, I just didn't like it either. I'm stuck in a hard place between making a Home Page that really reflects my personality but doesn't really look all that nice, and making a really pretty one that doesn't really reflect me at all. It's a balancing act that I can't seem to get the right footing for. And I know I could just go "Why do I need to make it pretty at all?" Well I like it when things are really pretty and aesthetically pleasing. I just can't seem to find my brand of it. So after a few hours of slamming my head against a wall that won't break, I'm really hungry. I'm probably gonna have Taco Bell for dinner but that's still a while away right now.

This entry has been a bit of a downer, so on a lighter note: I saw the new Jurassic World movie yesterday in a theater with nice reclining seats and air conditioning. I didn't end up bringing the Sammy and Otto keychain this time around though. The movie was alright. I'm very much the type to come out of any movie and say "I had fun watching a movie today" unless it's something that really gets on my nerves, and it wasn't oneof those. Yay.

July 5th, 2025 [Saturday]

Slept in until 1PM today by accident. Oops.

I went to the carnival a few days ago and y'know that one ride that spins in circles and used centripetal force to keep you stuck to the walls? I went on one and it made me really sick :( I didn't throw up or anything but that's never happened to me before on any ride, even that one before this. We did, however, get 3 very larch bags of cotton candy.

I had to work on the 4th and it was sooo busy. I woke up at 2:30AM and couldn't get back to sleep and only went to bed at around 11PM

That being said, 4th of July was fun!!! I ate a bunch of food and blowed a bunch of bubbles and the fireworks were pretty. I made coleslaw yesterday and the bowl was so big I could barely fit it in my fridge... It turned out alright though. I also managed to avoid mosquitos this year. Yay.

July 2nd, 2025 [Wednesday]

Still haven't working on the comic very muc at all... The Summer Steam Sale started and I got both Planet Coaster games and they've taken over my life.

In other news, I got a skateboard!!! It's a 1997 Nash Maufacturing board that I got for $3 at Goodwill. My dad showed me how to take apart the wheels and clean and grease the bearings and I've been trying to figure out how to actually skateboard... When I was younger I really wanted to be that cool kid that could skate and would sneak out and do graffiti in the night. Unfortunatly, I was too morally conscious to ever do anything illegal. But at least I can live out that dream a little bit if I actually figure out how to ride this thing.

Andyways, The 4th of July is coming up and my family bought so much stuff for the family grill out that I can barely fit anything in the fridge or on the shelves anymore. I love me some grill food but I also can't wait until it's over so I have a bit more room to work with. I made some KFC style coleslaw while back that I'm gonna make more of, along with some pinwheels (Cream cheese mixed with ranch powder spread on a tortilla with pimentos and pastrami on top then rolled up and cut into pieces.) Pastrami tastes so good bit it smells so funky...

June 22nd, 2025 [Sunday]

Raaaahgghsajdjhsajh some not-so-nice things have happened over the past few days, but I won't dwell on that. I had philly cheasesteak for dinner so everything is ok :3.

I'm working on a new directory for the Nintendo Wars shrine. That thing is sooo outdated and I think I can make it much better. I'm just struggling with the buttons on the side because flexbox hates it when children under flex items are inside of links for some reason.

I also worked on the previously mentioned zombie comic idea a little bit more. I've brainstormed up a basic plot and drew up initial designs for 2 of the main characters, but it's still very much in the early stages of development. I really need to lock in if I want to get this thing done in time, but I've been having so much brainrot over some of my other OCs that I haven't gotten to it.

"What OCs?" you may be wondering. I semi-recently (AKA a few months ago) aquired a couple books on Union Army uniforms and I've been having a lot of fun drawing them. I had a few old-ish OCs in that setting before, but they were pretty much just character designs that I drew occasionally rather than proper OCs. I've really been doing more with them lately and haven't been able to take my attention away from them.

Will this amount to anything like a project that I'll upload or something? Maybe. I've posted A few drawings of them on my Newgrounds (@PinkyTelephone BTW) but other than that I don't have too many plans for them.

Anyway, back to the zombie thing. The basic premise that there's a nanovirus that turns dead people into zombies and causes extreme pain and illness in people who are alive. It mainly follows this one guy who just died in combat and got turned into a zombie, but he died so recently that no one can actually tell that he's undead.

Drawing of a zombie

Here's one of the concept drawings I've made so far of the MC. I think I'm gonna call him "Paulie"

June 18th, 2025 [Wednesday]

I was SUPPOSED to work today, but I got taken off the schedule so I got the day off!! Now I get to work on my site more :3

I still have a lot of pages that I need to work on. The one I'm most excited for is probably the projects page. I still don't really know what it'll end up looking like visually, but I'm really itching to dump some lore on all of the projects I've thought up over the years.

Speaking of which, I've thought up a new one that I may or may not go through with.

I had an old zombie plotline that was originally an Advance Wars sequel idea I made up when I was younger. I was thinking about re-tooling the concept and making it into a oneshot comic volume that I'd release over October for halloween.

I'd need to put a lot of work into it for it to come out on time, but I've found that I'm pretty quick at illustrating comics so if I can finish planning by the end of next month, I'm sure I could finish in time.

The beta title for the project is "Gold Sun, Green Grass"

I'm unsure if I would end up uploading it here or on my Newgrounds... I'm leaning towards on here and just having some promo art that links back to it on my NG? Maybe? IDK. This all depends on if I even go through with it.

Anything else today? I browsed some sites. Saw the usual talking about personal things, cool art, complaning about antis and proshippers and politics and other things blah blah blah blah blah. I've also been listening to a lot of YouTube in the background as I do things. There's this one person I watched a few videos from someone that gives such big 2017-2018 SCC DeviantArt ranter energy. Which I'm sure I should take as a red flag, but it feels so weirdly nostalgic. I kinda miss those days.

June 16th, 2025 [Monday]

Been awhile, huh.

Yeah I haven't really been worjing on my ste as of recent. Not because I didn't want to or anything, it's just that my past, inexperienced self was SO bad at organizing my folders that it was a NIGHTMARE to do ANYTHING. I have since re-organized most things, thoug I think I could have sorted my images better...

All of that being said: I now set my focus on re-making all of the old pages. I still like a decent amount of them, it's just that the code is so old and unoptimized that it's a hassle to modify. I'll keep the old diary for now (Though I already moved it to the "archive" folder...) I will probably re-make it eventually.

December 27th, 2024 [Friday]

Got a new laptop for Chrstmas that runs on Windows 11. This is my first time ever using it outside of messing with the Best Buy display computers. Gotta say that the new MS Paint is really weird? They:

  1. Added layers, but really poorly. You can't change their opacity and layer blending modes aren't a thing. All you can do is duplicate, merge and toggle them.
  2. Changed the max size of all of the brushes to be much larger than before.
  3. Removed the task bar custumization and ALT shortcut support, indirectly making it so you can't make custom shortcuts.
  4. Changed all of the shortcuts; some of the menu items that preveously had shortcuts don't have any anymore.
  5. Removed black and white mode
  6. Added support for image transparency, but no way to change transparency of brushes or layers.
  7. Big huge button at the top to AI generate images (owch.)
  8. Canvas is no longer stuck to the top left side of the screen.
  9. Support for dark mode. (The theme is the only thing in the settings menu)
  10. Thumbnail no longer dissapears when you zoom out too much.
  11. Oil and watercolor brush STILL run out and stop if you use them for too long (Don't understand why they haven't changed this yet)
  12. You can put negative numbers in the skew option again.

Overall a very mixed bag of tings. Most things aren't deal breakers, but the fact that they could have made this program so much bettr if they just actually made the layers good and didn't is really getting to me. I am MS Paint's #1 fan and user.

I just had to get that off of my chest.

December 26th, 2024 [Thursday]

Now I ACTUALLY haven't updated in awhile...

I've really been itching to ge back into the swing of things when it comes to working on this site. I'm also trying to get a comic I want to make off of the ground. I've been planning the world that it takes place in and the characters since sometime in 2020 if that puts anything into perspective. I'm finally writing stuff down and planning out plotlines and arcs and characters and stuff after all this time of daydreaming about things I might want to happen.

The name is still a work in progress, I don't even have a code name yet. When the thing is finally started, I'm hoping to host it here! Hopfully that will be sometime soon.

Also, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year, ect ect...

August 13th, 2024 [Tuesday]

Haven't updated in awhile. Not much has happened besides some unfortunate things I won't get into, but other than those, things have been alright. Also why have I only updated this page on Tuesdsays?

I've been wanting to add an OC page to my site for awhile, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. At first I was going to keep it simple and similar to my gallery where I'd just have a grid with and image and a short desctiption of the characrter, but the more I look at inspiration, the more I want to make individual pages for each character and have them all linked via an index/dirtectory. The former would be a lot easier, but I'd have a lot more creative control for each character with the ladder. I've already added a link onto the navbar on the homepage since it's gonna be added eventually, but it doesn't go anywhere yet.

I finished that sketchbook I mentioned. Finished it on the 24th of July. I don't have it with me and don't remember when I started it, but I know it took less than 3 months to finish. I also have since made 2 more clay figures of little soldiers since then that I'm in the process of painting. Hopfully I'll have thos eposted in the gallery soon!

July 23rd, 2024 [Tuesday]

Hellooo!! I'm back. I saw a movie this past Friday!! My mom made us all watch Twisters. It was actually opening weekend for it! When she was a kid, she saw the first movie in theaters a bunch and watched it at home even more so she wanted us all to go and see the new one. I even brought them...

keychain with 2 soldiers on it being held in front of a cinema screen

It was fun!! I enjoyed it. It wasn't life changing or anything, but it was still a fun movie none-the-less. I've always enjoyed weather as a subject, I even understood some of the stuff they were talking about thanks to my practice with METARs, so I was bound to find something out of it. Maybe I should make a movie review page... though I don't really watch movies very often.

In other news, I only have 2 pages left in my current sketchbook! I also started a new sculpture that I was hoping to paint this past Monday, but I used a lot of water on it so it still isn't dry yet :(. here it is btw!!

Unpainted clay sculpture of a WW1 british soldier holding a bouquet of flowers

I also started playing TF2! I've started out as playing Scout, but who knows, I may change to someone else.

July 16th, 2024 [Tuesday]

hello world!

I've been working on this website really hard for the past few days it seems. I just had a little burst of motivation to work on it again and I've already re-done so many pages! It's weird how fast you can get things done when you put your mind to it.

How's my life IRL? I had to work a bunch of extra hours the last few weeks because so many people requested off for the 4th of July and summer vacations. It was really tiring!!! But I got a good break and should be fine going back in :3

Other than that, I'm almost done with my current sketchbook!1! I started it on May 7th and only have 3 blank spreads and the back of a few pages to fill until it's done!

I haven't really done anything for the summer. I will be going out of state for a bit in the coming months, but I really haven't done anything of note in the vacation department this year.

The 4th of July was fun though!! It always is; It's one of my favorite holidays. Who doesn't like a good grill-out? I live in the country too, so we could set off our own fireworks when it got dark enough. Got a few mosquito bites though...
